Terms of Use
Effective 2 August 2026 · Version 2026-08-02
These Terms are a binding agreement between you and ChessStride governing your use of the service. By creating an account or using the service you accept these Terms, the Privacy Notice and the Fair Play & Conduct policy.
Account ownership
Adults may create their own account. Every learner under 18 must use an account created, owned and supervised by a parent or lawful guardian, who provides consent at registration. The account owner is responsible for the login credentials and for the connected chess usernames.
Permitted use
ChessStride is a free educational training service. Do not abuse the APIs, attempt to access another account, upload unlawful material, misrepresent guardianship, automate excessive requests, or interfere with the operation of the service. Fair-play rules — including solving training positions without engine or outside help — are part of these Terms.
Chess content and licences
Imported games remain associated with their original platforms (such as Lichess and Chess.com) and their terms. Shared training positions derived from the Lichess open puzzle database are used under that database's licence. Training ratings, motif labels and engine recommendations are educational estimates, not official chess ratings or professional advice.
Intellectual property
The ChessStride name, interface and original content are owned by the operator. You keep your own account data. You are granted a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for your own learning.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Training content and engine output may contain errors; you rely on them at your own discretion.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or loss of data or progress, arising from use of the service. Because the service is provided free of charge, the operator's total aggregate liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Availability and changes
The service may change, suspend faulty content, limit abusive traffic, or end free availability. We aim to preserve learning records but do not promise uninterrupted operation. We may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected by a new effective date, and continued use after that date means acceptance.
Termination
The account owner may request deletion from Settings at any time. We may restrict or close accounts for security, abuse, unlawful use, or false parental-consent claims, as described in the Fair Play policy.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable law, the courts at the operator's place of business in India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. We encourage you to raise concerns first through Support so we can try to resolve them directly.
